Flock of goals tames Pronghorns

VICTORIA - #Kendra Flock# led the UVic Vikes women's soccer team to their third straight victory on Sunday afternoon defeating the Lethbridge Pronghorns 3-0.

The fifth year striker has been in top form this season scoring five of the Vikes ten goals. Rookie forward #Frankee Bencher# finished off the solid outing with a 90th minute strike to see the Vikes close out the weekend series with two wins.

After peppering Pronghorns keeper Meagan Dixon for the entire first half, Flock was able to solve Lethbridge's defence in the 57th minute after weaving through three tacklers to score unassisted.

She went on to notch her fifth goal of the season in the 72nd minute after heading in #Natasha Walbaum#'s cross.

The home side continued to press the Pronghorns in the closing minutes and their efforts were rewarded as Walbaum assisted Bencher for the Vikes third and final goal.

"We weren't in the game in the first 45 minutes and that's credit to Lethbridge," Vikes head coach Tracy David said of the win. "On saying that I'm happy with how we responded. Kendra Flock took it upon herself to make sure she hit the target and things paid off for us. "

The Vikes will look to stretch their undefeated run on Saturday, September 26th against the Manitoba Bison before taking on the Regina Cougars on Sunday, September 27th. Both games are scheduled for 12:00pm kickoffs at Centennial Stadium.
