Jaclyn Sawicki# scored in the 11th minute to lead the UVic Vikes women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the Fraser Valley cascades in their home opener at Centennial Stadium.
Sporting pink jerseys to raise awareness for breast cancer, the Vikes stayed undefeated with a 1-0 win in their home opener. Vikes 'keeper #
Stephanie Parker# made four saves to record her first clean sheet of the season. Shots were 5-4 in favour of the Cascades.
“
Jaclyn Sawicki had a very good game for us and looked dangerous in a few instances,” Vikes head coach #
Tracy David# said. “I think when you have a player of that caliber, we need to get her the ball more so she can weave her magic. It's always nice to come away with the win but we've got a lot of things to work on.”
The win bumps the Vikes season record to 2-0-2 as they head into next weekend's double-header against mainland rivals Trinity Western and UBC. Kickoff against the TWU Spartans is scheduled for 12pm on October 2nd.
