VICTORIA - The University of Victoria Vikes men's basketball team lived up to their No. 9 national ranking, dominating the Regina Cougars with an 85-66 win at McKinnon Gymnasium on Friday night.

Ryan MacKinnon# of Comox, B.C., led the Vikes with a game-high 26 points along with four rebounds to earn Applebee's Player of the Game honours, while #
Terrell Evans# of Las Vegas was effective inside with 14 points and six boards off the bench.
"This team has high expectations and we came out really strong tonight," said Evans. "We had three hard practices this week and that just carried over to the game. We can't let this victory go to our heads, we just have to continue to work hard."
The Vikes host the Brandon Bobcats on Saturday at 7 p.m. at McKinnon Gymnasium.
On Friday night, UVic got out to a quick 25-19 lead after the opening quarter and led 46-25 at the half.
A steady rotation of players in the second half allowed a number of other players to get into the act with excellent balance.

Zac Andrus# of Vachon Island, Wa., had a terrific 11-point, six-rebound and eight-assist effort for UVic.
Paul Gareau led Regina with 23 points and five rebounds in the loss.
