LANGLEY, B.C. - Women's soccer players #
Jaclyn Sawicki# of Coquitlam, B.C., and #
Amy Lawrence# of Burnaby, B.C., were named Canada West all-stars on Thursday night in Langley, B.C.
Sawicki, a sophomore who earned her first two senior women's national team caps in the fall during an exhibition tour in the U.S., led the Vikes with three goals and six assists for nine points this season. The Vikes lost both games with Sawicki out of the lineup, a sign of her incredible value to the squad.
Meanwhile Lawrence stepped up to play an important role in the Vikes back four this season. When #
Sarah Clark# suffered a season-ending concussion, Lawrence was asked to permanently move to fullback and helped to anchor an ever-improving back-four.
The Vikes women's soccer team plays Trinity Western in the Canada West Final 4 tournament in Langley, B.C., in the conference semifinal on Friday Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. A win advances the Vikes to next weekend's CIS National Women's Soccer Championship hosted by the McGill Martlets in Montreal. (
