With the tie, the Vikes (0-0-1) hop on the bus for a long ride to Winnipeg (0-1-0) where they will face the Manitoba Bisons on Sunday (10 a.m. PST kickoff). The Bisons lost 2-1 to Fraser Valley on Saturday.
Clark (North Vancouver) opened the scoring early in the game for the Vikes. Just a minute after UVic goalkeeper #
Stephanie Parker# (Chemainus) made a save on Regina's Tiffany Gyurek, Clark opened the scoring, taking a pass from #
Lindsay Hoetzel# and one-timing it into the top left corner.
UVic led 1-0 at the half.
Just under 20 minutes into the second half, the host Lady Cougars tied the game. After a save from Regina's Michelle Anderson on Vikes rookie #
Shannon Elder# (Victoria), the Cougars countered and a Meagan Cormier cross was finished by Tayler Firth to tie the game at 1-1 in the 63rd minute.
Vikes head coach #
Tracy David# said the Regina goal came on a "controversial call" in which it appeared Parker had controlled the ball, preventing it from crossing the line.
Parker was strong in goal for the Vikes, especially in the second half, finishing the game with three saves.
The game featured 16 fouls, 11 against Regina.
