VICTORIA, B.C. - The University of Victoria Vikes men's soccer team were handed their fifth loss of the season and their second of the weekend by the Trinity Western University Spartans as they fell 2-1. The Vikes now have a Canada West record of 5-5-2 and will head into their final regular season games of the year next weekend at home against the Mount Royal University Cougars and the University of Winnipeg Wesmen.

Early in the first half the Spartans went up on the Vikes with a goal from third-year midfielder Cameron Parkes after TWU took the ball up the right and crossed it into the middle of pitch. Less than two minutes later the Spartans asserted their dominance with a header by striker Jarvis Ambaka that sailed top left past Vikes keeper Elliot Mitrou (Victoria, B.C.) 

The Vikes fought hard to create an offensive opportunity but it was a case of too little too late when a scramble in the box led to an extra time goal by Cameron Stokes (Richmond, B.C.). The Vikes have struggled on the road, losing five of their seven away games this season. Their home game record has been significantly better, winning five of five. 

The next two games for the Vikes will be at home in Centennial Stadium, Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 against the Mount Royal University Cougars and the University of Winnipeg Wesmen. Both will be broadcast live at http://uvic.canadawest.tv.
