The University of Victoria Vikes improved their chances of hosting a home quarter-final series in the Canada West playoffs with a dominating defensive performance in a 68-39 win over the UBC Okanagan Heat on Saturday night in Kelowna, B.C.

With the victory, the Vikes improve to 13-3 on the season with two games remaining - both against the No. 3 nationally ranked UBC Thunderbirds (12-4) in a home-and-home series Feb. 10 at the War Memorial Gymnamsium in Vancouver and Feb. 17 at McKinnon Gymnasium in Victoria.

UVic can lock up first place in the Pacific Division with a win over UBC in one of the two remaining regular season games. UBC and Fraser Valley (12-5) are tied for second spot. The Cascades travel to Langley, B.C., on Thursday night to face the Trinity Western Spartans - if Fraser Valley loses that game, the Vikes can clinch a home playoff series before the UBC home-and-home series even begins.
