VICTORIA, B.C. - The University of Victoria Vikes women's soccer team went 2-0 on the road against both Calgary and Lethbridge this weekend. The Vikes women downed Lethbridge 7-0 with six different scorers contributing on Sept. 23.

Vikes second-year forward
Emma Greig (Tofino, BC) notched her eighth goal of the season in the opening two minutesof play, while keepers
Stephanie Parker (Chemainus, BC) and
Tanya Jones (Sidney, BC) split the shut out.
The Vikes women dominated in possession and attack with the seven goals coming at regular intervals throughout the match. Following Greig's opening goal,
Amy Lawrence (Burnaby, BC) scored her first of the season in the ninth minute, with the assist being credited to
Lindsay Hoetzel (Victoria, BC).
An own goal before the break left the Vikes up 3-0 at the half, leaving head coach
Tracy David to put a number of fresh legs on the pitch. Midfielders
Cassie Dennis (Calgary, AB) and
Nathalie Scharf (Salmon Arm, BC) each scored, with second-half substitute
Sarah Douglas (London, ONT) also contributing. Rookie
Jana Yates (Summerland, BC) scored in the 87th minute to close the scoring for the Vikes.
The Vikes women move to a 4-0-1 record and are third in the Canada West standings behind undefeated Trinity Western and Regina. Next weekend, the Vikes women will host Winnipeg and Manitoba during the University's 50th Anniversary and Homecoming weekend festivities. Both games will begin at 5 p.m. PST at Centennial Stadium and will be broadcast live at
