VICTORIA, B.C. – This Sunday, Feb. 3, for the 28
th year running, the University of Victoria Vikes men's and women's rowing teams will host the B.C. segment of the National Indoor Rowing Championship in UVic's McKinnon Gym.

With the National Indoor Rowing Championship, also known as the Monster Erg, in its 28
th year, McKinnon Gym will play host to over 500 competitors as they attempt to qualify for the
Crash B Sprints World Indoor Rowing Championships in Boston on Feb. 17.
A nation-wide event, with concurrent championships held in Regina, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax, a national champion will also be determined based on the top results from the five sites. In addition, the event is a fundraiser for the Vikes rowing program as they offer both new and used ergometers for sale. At present, there are still several new and used machines available for sale.
Most of the races are 2,000-m in length with several 1,000-m and 500-m races thrown in the mix, including a 4x500 relay race for novice and alumni crews. The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 3 and admission is free.
