The Vikes women, who dropped six spots in the national rankings, will look to maintain their top-10 reign in the CIS with only one game this weekend. Last weekend the Vikes dropped the Mount Royal Cougars 2-1 on goals from second-half substitutes Cassie Dennis and Allie Wiebe. In their second game in as many days, the Vikes visited the Pandas and despite out-playing them, turned over a 2-0 decision to the now undefeated and nationally-ranked Alberta side. The Pandas jumped to No. 3 in the polls after downing the Cascades 4-1 last weekend.

The experienced Vikes side who won last year's CIS bronze medal will have their work cut out for them and they will be looking to rely on the midfield strengths of Jacqueline Harrison and Jaclyn Sawicki, while newcomers Elise Butler and Natasha Magnus have also made outstanding debuts so far. Harrison leads the points chart with three goals, while Butler has contributed two assists.

Third-year midfielder Carly Branion-Calles has also been a spark for the Vikes team scoring the thrilling injury-time goal that put the Vikes up 2-1 over the defending national champions, Trinity Western, in their second game of the season. Anchoring the back line has been central defender and fifth year Brigitte Greig, as well as senior goalkeeper Tanya Jones.

The Cascades are led by second-year defender Paige Friesen who has contributed three asists in five games, while striker Danica Kump and defender Jade Palm lead the team in scoring with two goals each. In net, the Cascades have relied on rookie Kayla Klim who boasts a .788 save percentage on 62 shots faced.

The Vikes and Cascades will go head-to-head this weekend, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. at Centennial Stadium. The game will also be broadcast live at http://canadawest.tv
