CALGARY – The No. 3 ranking held true for the University of Victoria Vikes men's basketball team that left the Calgary Dinos with no chance for a come back after a 92-64 win at the Jack Simpson Gym on Jan. 31. Holding down the Pacific Division with a 15-2 record, the Vikes drop the Dinos to a 5-12 record.

BOX SCORE
Â
For Victoria, forward
Chris McLaughlin scored a game-high 20 points followed by 18 from senior
Terrell Evans. Second-year guard
Kyle Peterson recorded 11 points and six assists, while senior
Ryan Erikson added another 10 for the visitors.
Â
The Dinos were led by Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson and Josh Turner who both had 13 points on the night. Matt Letkeman scored another ten for Calgary and almost reached a double-double, grabbing a game-high nine rebounds.
Â
Calgary got off to a great start, coming up with three-pointers from three different players and going ahead 11-4. It didn't last long though as both teams battled it out in the early stages.
Â
The Vikes took their first lead since the opening points at 17-16 when Peterson hit his third three and never looked back. One more three before the quarter was up gave Victoria a 20-16 lead.
Â
In the second, Victoria went off on a run that gave them their biggest lead of the night so far thanks to a three-pointer shot by McLaughlin. From the other end of the court, the Dinos had trouble sinking any bucket, making it easy for the Vikes to continue to extend their lead.
Â
With less than two minutes left in the half, Peterson and McLaughlin had already hit double digits and the Dinos sunk further into a hole, allowing the visitors to go up 50-30 as the half expired.
Â
The halftime break didn't do much for the home team as the Dinos' frustration continued to mount. The No. 3 team in the country had no problem taking advantage as their lead grew to 30 points halfway through the third quarter.
Â
From there, the Dinos were unable to get any closer than 26 points with the Vikes firing on all cylinders. A number of players came off the bench for both teams, with almost every single player on the roster getting minutes.
Â
Victoria sailed to their fifth-straight victory, defeating the Dinos by a final score of 92-64.
Â
Calgary is set to host the UBC Thunderbirds in their second Pacific match-up of the weekend while the Vikes will head south to Lethbridge to take on the Pronghorns at 6 p.m. All games will be live at
