The Vikes are coming into their final meet of the year after a strong performance at the Canada West Swimming Championships, Nov. 27-29, in Vancouver. The Vikes combined for five medals in four events, including four bronze medals from second-year Vike
Kaitlin Gervais. The Vikes men and women both finished in fourth place with 282 and 315 points, respectively.
Â
A total of 15 Vikes swimmers will compete across 65 events this weekend at the annual Christmas Cracker meet. The event welcomes competitive swimmers of all skill levels and features three different age groups: 12 & under, 13-14, and 15 & over. Last year, the Christmas Cracker featured nearly 800 athletes and this year should be no different as several Vikes will be able to continue their path to qualifying for the CIS Championship, hosted Feb. 26-28 in Quebec City, Que.
Â
Finals begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5, while Sunday, Dec. 6 finals start at 5:00 p.m, concluding the meet with the women's 800-metre freestyle. Following this weekend, the Vikes will break until the New Year before regrouping for their first meet of 2016 in the Senior Circuit LCM in Burnaby, B.C.
