VICTORIA, B.C. – Following a home sweep last weekend, Sept. 18-19, the University of Victoria Vikes women' soccer team will look to carry their momentum on the road as they travel to the interior to face UBC Okanagan on Sept. 26 and Thompson Rivers on Sept. 27.
 
Despite a slow start to season, the Vikes captured huge wins at home to improve their spot in the Canada West standings. A total of five Vikes women put the ball in the back of the net against UNBC to win the game 6-0. The following day, the Vikes captured their second win of the season, defeating Alberta 3-1 to improve to a 2-2-1 season record.

Four Vikes women scored two goals in the back-to-back games including year senior Emma Greig, second-year Emily Lieuwen, third-year transfer from Indiana University-Purdue Teresa Anania, as well as first-year forward Kiara Kilbey.
 
"These consecutive wins should give us some momentum going into the weekend," said women's soccer head coach Tracy David. "We are now figuring out who we are as a team."
 
It will be the first weekend that both the WolfPack and the Heat will play their games on home turf following three weeks of games on the road. The WolfPack suffered two-consecutive shutout losses against Fraser Valley and Trinity Western this past weekend to post a 2-3-1 record.

UBC Okanagan was also unable to capture a win, tying Trinity Western 1-1 and losing to Fraser Valley, 3-1, the next day. The Heat sit one spot below the WolfPack in the standings with a 1-2-3 record. Fifth-year midfielder Michelle Smith and first-year forward Kaylin Ferguson lead the Heat in goals, with the pair scoring four out of the team's six goals so far this season.
 
"UBC Okanagan and Thompson Rivers will be more comfortable at home," added David. "They are no easy teams in this league so we have to keep working hard as we continue into the season."
