Tale of the Weekend
VICTORIA— The Vikes will play host to two of the top teams in their conference when they take on the Fraser Valley Cascades on October 14, and the Trinity Western Spartans on October 15.
Both games will begin at 5:00 p.m.
The game aginst Trinity Western on Saturday will also be the last regular season home game for
Meaghan Storie,
Samantha Lee,
Lindsay Machin,
Sarah Douglas and
Mia Gunter, the five graduating players from the Vikes roster.
The Vikes played both of these teams on the road, almost exactly one month ago.
UVic played to a scoreless draw against Trinity Western in Langley. Fraser Valley meanwhile, handed the Vikes their first loss of the season by a score of 3-0.
"I think we are going to have to have all cylinders firing at the same time this weekend for sure. This is an opportunity for us to move up in the standings," said Vikes head coach
Tracy David. "We have to be in the top three places in the Pacific division to host a playoff so that's what we are gunning for, it would be great to play at home. The results this weekend are going to tell a big story."
Last Time Out
There was only one game on the schedule for the Vikes last week, they fell 2-0 to the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver. The loss dropped the Vikes to fifth place in a very close Pacific Division.
Fraser Valley and Trinity Western also played just one game last week, it was a battle between first and second in the Pacific Division when the Cascades travelled to Langley to play the Spartans.
Trinity won the game 3-2 to boost their national ranking to second in the country.

On the teams five graduating players.
"They bring a wealth of experience, of knowing how the program works. They know the inner dealings of the inner circle in the program. They've worked long and hard, committed and dedicated many hours in order to get to the spot that they are in. At university you always hope they graduate so of course we are pleased that they are graduating, but in terms of the athletic realm it is tough because they are such an integral cog in our wheel. You lose a lot of heart and soul when those players graduate, that's the part that we will miss the most is their inner soul."
On being one of just two teams to earn a point against Trinity Western this season
"That for sure gives us a little confidence. We have to play well against Trinity Western, they have all kinds of weapons at their disposal. They are sitting pretty comfortable in first place right now and we would like nothing better than to take three points away from them this weekend."
