Tale Of The Weekend
 
VICTORIA—There will be just one game this coming weekend for the third-place UVic Vikes women's soccer team. The Vikes will do battle against the UBC Thunderbirds, October 8 at 5:00 p.m. in Vancouver.
 
The game will have huge Canada West playoff implications. The Vikes currently sit in third place in the Pacific Division, just two points ahead of UBC.
 
"It's a dogfight right now, we are clawing at each other for points and it's never easy," said Vikes head coach Tracy David.

These teams met in the opening game of the season. On that day in Victoria, Meaghan Storie and the Vikes defence performed heroics to keep the game tied at 0-0.

Last Time Out
 
The two teams were both very successful last weekend. Both teams faced the Thompson Rivers WolfPack and the UBCO Heat at their home stadiums and picked up all six points on the weekend.
 
UVic continued their streak of strong defence and combined that with an offence that looked truly threatening to beat TRU 4-0 and UBCO 3-1.
 
UBC's offence also broke out in a big way, they beat UBCO 2-0 and TRU 10-0.

By The Numbers
 
5: The number of points fifth-year midfielder Sarah Douglas scored for the Vikes last weekend. Her two goals and three assists were key in the Vikes picking up two wins.
 
15: The number of points last year's CIS championship MVP, Jasmine Dhanda has scored in nine games this season for UBC.

"I think UBC is very dangerous, they have so many tools available to them. They are deep at every position, and are very potent."
 
"UBC right now is just trying to find their feet and all the components are there for them. They are just waiting to bust out."
 
"We have to be a little bit more threatening in the attacking third, you can't move up the ladder if you are consistently tying teams. We need to look to score more goals."
