Wright first Vike inducted into CW Hall of Fame

VICTORIA – Earlier this morning, Nicci Wright became the first University of Victoria Vikes alum to be elected into the new Canada West Hall of Fame.

Created as a way of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first university sport championship in Western Canada, the Canada West Hall of Fame was created this year as a way of recognizing excellence in university sport across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Over the course of 100 days, 100 inductees will be 17570enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

Wright starred on the women's soccer team from 1991-95 and was the starting goalkeeper for the final three seasons. Over those years, she recorded a 1.60 goals against average and three shutouts.

Following her time in Victoria, she won bronze as a member of Team Canada at the 1998 CONCACAF Women's Championship and represented her country again during the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Wright was inducted into the UVic Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
