Ottawa, Ont. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team concluded its 2021 campaign with a 2-0 loss to Laval University, Nov. 20, at the U SPORTS national championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED
11th Minute – Laval 1, UVic 0
- The Rouge et Or moved the ball into the box, and managed to force enough space to get a shot off for a goal.
70th Minute – Laval 2, UVic 0
- Laval extended its lead with a breakaway score in the second half.
90th Minute +2 – Laval 3, UVic 0
- Adding one more, Laval scored in added time to cement their win.
WORTH NOTING
- UVic nearly opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes of play, garnering back-to-back chances resulting in shots on target.
- Harjot Nijjar made impressive stops in goal for Victoria, picking up five saves on the day and keeping the Vikes within striking distance for the majority of the game.
- Aiden Taylor led the offensive effort for the Vikes, picking up two shots on target.
- The Vikes finish the 2021 season with a 9-6-3 overall on the season, highlighted by a 6-3-3 Canada West record for a first-place finish in the Canada West west division in the regular season.
