Burnaby, B.C. – The University of Victoria swimming teams opened the 2022 portion of its schedules against host Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia in a tri-meet, Jan. 21 at Margaret & Paul Savage Pool.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the 800 free, UVic claimed a pair of podium finishes with Alice Gentleman taking second on the women's side with a time of 9:17.15, while William Risk finished third at 8:11.14 on the men's side.
• Sophie Tarrant won the 100 breast on the women's side, clocking in at 1:10.29. Ethan Hemeon finished third on the men's side in the same event with a 1:02.56 performance.
• Tarrant added a pair of second place finishes in the 200 breast (2:33.97) and 200 IM (2:22.08) at the meet.
• Finishing with a pair of podium finishes, Elijah Agostinelli Stull took the 200 free event title with a time of 1:52.64, and took third in the 400 free at 4:01.43.
• Picking up the final win of the day for the Vikes, Padric Mckervill took the 200 fly with a showing of 2:03.63. In addition, he added a second place, 2:07.94 100 IM race on the night.
• Adding podium finishes were Lauren Crisp and Maxwell Fang, who each earned second and third place finishes in two events. Crisp took second in the 100 back (1:03.84) and third in the 200 back (2:15.06), while Fang finished second in the 100 free (52.52) and third in the 50 free (24.11).
• Rounding out the top three finishes for the Vikes were Jacob Rambo, who clocked in at 57.38 in the 100 back, and Sophia Brunoro, who took third with a 4:35.54 performance in the 400 Free.
