Vancouver, B.C. - Capping off back-to-back meets on the mainland, the University of Victoria swimming teams competed at the University of British Columbia's Senior Circuit, Jan. 22. After a short course meet at Simon Fraser University one day ago, the Vikes competed in a long course environment today. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Earning two of the Vikes' four wins on the afternoon, Sophie Tarrant took the 100 breast (1:12.47) and 200 IM (2:25.85) event titles. Later in the meet, she clocked in at 2:40.83 in the 200 breast for the runner-up finish.
• In the 200 fly, Padric Mckervill posted a time of 2:08.47 for the win.
• Winning the 100 free race, Maxwell Fang touched the wall in 53.22 to take first place. Fang nearly took home two wins, grabbing the silver in the 50 free with a time of 24.54.
• Adding three podium finishes of his own, Ethan Hemeon took second place in the 100 breast at 1:05.04, while notching third-place finishes in the 200 breast (2:25.27) and 200 IM (2:13.78).
• Lauren Taylor earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 200 and 400 free events, finishing with times of 2:10.64 and 4:32.98, respectively. 
• A consistent presence on the podium for the Vikes, Drew Edwards finished in bronze position in the 400 IM (4:44.11), 200 fly (2:10.50), and 400 free (4:13.91).
• In total, UVic brought home four wins and 15 additional top-three finishes at the UBC Senior Circuit.

UVic will stay on the island and head to Nanaimo, B.C. for the Vancouver Island Regional Championships, Jan. 28-30.
