Duncan, B.C. – Swimmers from the University of Victoria competed at the Vancouver Island Regional Championships, amassing nine wins, Jan. 28-30.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Friday

• The Vikes saw major success in the 50 fly, taking the top two spots in both the men's and women's races. Cameron Hill and Mariah Fulton went 1-2 with times of 28.99 and 29.35, respectively, while Marc Toyata and Ricky Millns took first and second with 26.45 and 26.52 showings, respectively.
• Hill earned her second win of the day in the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:22.91 for the win. Alice Gentleman was close behind, taking the runner-up spot with a 2:23.63 time.
• The Vikes also went 1-2 in the men's 200 IM, with Colton Stevens bringing home the win with a 2:07.95 swim. Benjimen Eyre finished second with a time of 2:09.89.

Saturday

• UVic started day two of the Vancouver Island Regional Championships in strong fashion, with Marc Toyata earning his second win of the meet, this time in the 100 fly with a time of 58.51. Mariah Fulton took second in the women's race at 1:04.67.
• Benjimen Eyre posted a 2:22.16 time in the 200 breast to capture the event title.
• Taking the gold and silver in the 50 back, Olivia Roschat and Mariah Fulton finished first and second with 30.63 and 30.64 marks, respectively.
• Rounding out the day, Nathaniel Hees and Colton Stevens both clocked in at 4:38.33 in the 400 IM to tie for second.

Sunday

• Kevin Downing earned his first win of the weekend, winning the 200 fly with a time of 2:12.07.
• In the 400 free, Alice Gentleman swam 4:24.32 for a first-place finish.
• Ricky Millns secured a pair of podium finishes, taking second in the 100 breast with a time iof 1:05.37 and third in the 50 free at 23.82.
• Also finding themselves on the podium twice on the final day of competition was Mackenzie Warrington, who swam 2:31.15 in the 200 fly and 4:34.15 in the 400 free for third-place finishes in both events.

UP NEXT
The Vikes will return to Commonwealth Place, Feb. 12-13, for the West Coast Collegiate.
