Vikes versus Heat matchup ends in scoreless draw

VICTORIA – The University of Victoria women's soccer team and University of British Columbia Okanagan finished in a 0-0 draw, Oct. 1 at Centennial Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Emma Skalik gave the Vikes several good chances during her 90 minutes on the field, but saves by the Heat or shots being sent just off target prevented the score from changing.
  • Sophie Fingarson launched a final shot on the ground in the last seconds of the match, but the UBCO keeper made the stop to secure a scoreless draw.
WORTH NOTING
  • Fingarson and Skalik led the offensive chances for the Vikes, recording four and three shots, respectively. Both put one shot on frame.
  • Kayley Lidstone and the Vikes' defence posted back-to-back shutouts for the second time this season, also notching the team's fifth overall clean sheet.
  • Victoria finished with the 12-5 advantage in shots and 5-1 edge in shots on goal. In addition, UVic had nine corner attempts to the Heat's one.
  • With the draw, the Vikes' unbeaten streak improves to six games.
  • The Vikes sit at 4-4-3 on the season while UBCO holds a 2-5-3 mark after the tie.
