Women's soccer hosts UFV in Canada West play-in game

VICTORIA - The University of Victoria women's soccer team begins postseason play at home, hosting the University of the Fraser Valley in the Canada West play-in round, Oct. 21 at Centennial Stadium.

NEWS & NOTES
  • Closing the regular season with an 8-4-2 record, the Vikes captured fourth place in the Canada West pacific division. The eight wins mark the most conference wins for the Vikes since the 2019 team, which also finished with eight wins.
  • The Vikes will face fifth-seeded UFV to open postseason play, who hold a 6-5-3 record at the end of the regular season.
  • Victoria and UFV have faced off twice during the 2023 season, with Fraser Valley claiming a 1-0 win at Centennial Stadium, Sept. 10, and most recently with the Vikes taking a 3-0 win at Rotary Stadium, Oct. 13.
  • The Canada West playoff appearance marks the 12th-straight for the Vikes under head coach Tracy David. The Vikes will be in search of their first playoff win since the 2019 season.
  • Reaching the play-in round in 2022, the Vikes ended regulation tied with Thompson Rivers, 1-1, and were defeated on penalty kicks, 4-2.
