NEWS & NOTES
- After defeating Fraser Valley on penalty kicks during the play-in round, the Vikes head to Edmonton, Alta. to face MacEwan in the quarterfinals. The winner will advance to the Canada West Final Four, hosted by the highest remaining pacific seed, Nov. 3-5.
- Victoria entered the playoffs as the fourth seed in the pacific division, finishing with a regular season record of 8-4-2. MacEwan opens their playoff run as the top seed in the prairie division, finishing with a 10-2-2 record over 14 games.
- The quarterfinal appearance will be the first for the Vikes since the 2019 season, having fallen in the play-in rounds in 2021 and 2022. UVic has also forced penalty kicks in the last two play-in rounds, falling to Thompson Rivers 1-1 (4-2 PK) in 2022 and then defeating Fraser Valley 1-1 (3-1 PK) in 2023.
- Emma Skalik and Erin Jensen lead the Vikes with seven goals each on the season, while Ruby Nicholas leads the team in assists and points with nine and 13, respectively.Â
- The Vikes head to MacEwan with four Canada West All-Stars on the team: second team selections Skalik, Sophie Fingarson, and Nicholas, and all-rookie honouree Adrianna Hilton. The four are the first all-conference selections for UVic since the 2019 season.
