Women's soccer hosts Heat, WolfPack to close regular season slate

VICTORIA - The University of Victoria women's soccer team closes its 2024 Canada West regular season slate against the University of British Columbia Okanagan and Thompson Rivers University, Oct. 18-20 at Centennial Stadium.

LAST 5 MEETINGS
  • The Vikes are 0-3-2 in their last five meetings against UBCO. Meeting earlier this season, Sept. 21 in Kelowna, B.C., the Vikes and Heat played to a 1-1 draw.
  • Victoria is 3-1-1 against Thompson Rivers in the last five meetings between the two sides. UVic and TRU ended in a 1-1 draw, Sept. 20, in Kamloops, B.C. earlier this season.
NEWS & NOTES
  • Entering the final weekend of the regular season, the Vikes hold a 6-2-4 overall record and sit in third place in the Canada West Pacific Division, one point behind Trinity Western in second place. Victoria is coming off a 1-1 tie against Mount Royal, Oct. 12.
  • UBCO holds fourth in the pacific division at 6-5-1 on the year, while Thompson Rivers holds a 4-6-2 record for sixth place in the division. The Heat and WolfPack faced each other, Oct. 11, with TRU coming away with the 3-2 win.
  • The top two seeds in the pacific division will host a quarterfinal matchup, Oct. 25-27, while the third and fourth seeds in the pacific will travel to the top two prairie division seeds for the quarterfinals. The top remaining prairie seed will host the Canada West Final Four, Nov. 1-3.
  • Ruby Nicholas leads the Vikes with eight goals on the season, good for third-most in the conference. Her 13 points also rank fourth in Canada West, while her five assists lead the team and rank sixth in the conference. 
  • Sophie Murphy's four goals and Sophie Fingarson's four assists mark the second-most on the Vikes in their respective categories.
