Women's soccer hosts Saskatchewan in Canada West quarterfinals

VICTORIA - The University of Victoria women's soccer team hosts the University of Saskatchewan in the quarterfinal round of the Canada West playoffs, Oct. 26 at Centennial Stadium.

LAST 5 MEETINGS
  • The Vikes are 2-1-2 in the last five meetings against Saskatchewan. The two sides met in the bronze medal match of the Canada West playoffs one season ago, with the game ending in a 0-0 tie and the Huskies claiming the medal on penalty kicks, 4-2.
  • Victoria last faced Saskatchewan at Centennial Stadium Sept. 20, 2019, which also ended in a 0-0 tie.

  • The Vikes ended the year as the second seed in the Canada West Pacific Division with a 7-2-5 overall record, finishing the season with a 0-0 tie against UBCO and 4-0 win over Thompson Rivers, Oct. 18-20.
  • Saskatchewan claimed the third seed in the Canada West Prairie Division with a 7-2-5 record, and closed their regular season slate with a 0-0 tie against Manitoba and 2-0 win over Winnipeg, Oct. 19-20.
  • The top remaining seed in the Canada West Prairie Division will host the Canada West Final Four, set to take place Nov. 1-3. The Vikes look to return to the final four for the second-straight year, after their appearance in 2023 marked the program's first trip since 2017.
  • Ruby Nicholas enters the weekend as a Canada West First Team All-Star, leading the team with eight goals which also rank fourth-most in the conference. She's added six assists for 14 total points, which also leads the Vikes and is good for third-most in the league.
  • Sophie Fingarson received Canada West Second All-Star recognition, and currently sits in second on the Vikes with seven points on the year from three goals and four assists.
