NEWS & NOTES
- The Canadian University Rowing Championships return to Elk Lake for the first time since the 2019 season. 20 rowing programs from across Canada will be competing in addition to the Vikes over the two-day event.
- Saturday's schedule will feature the time trials, which will seed boats for finals racing that takes place Sunday.Â
- The Vikes women enter the weekend as the two-time defending national champions, while the men's program is in search of their first title since 2021.
- In 2023, the women's side won their second-straight banner after winning gold in the 8+, silver in the 1x, 2-, and lightweight 4+, and bronze in lightweight 2x.
- The men's side finished in third place in 2023, winning a gold medal in the lightweight 1x and silver in the 8+.
- Victoria is coming off competition at the Western Canadian University Rowing Championships (Oct. 5) and the Head and Tail of the Gorge (Oct. 26-27). At the WCURCs, the women's team captured six gold medals, while the men's team won a gold medal courtesy of Giancarlo DiPompeo, and finished with 14 overall podium finishes.Â
