Halifax, N.S. - The University of Victoria women's soccer team fell to Trinity Western University, 3-0, in the consolation semifinal at the U SPORTS championships, Nov. 8 at Dalhousie University. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Spartans take 2-0 lead in first 45 minutes, add one more in second half

• Trinity Western scored in the ninth and 41st minutes to hold a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.
• A goal following a corner kick in the 67th minute sealed the win for the Spartans, 3-0.

McLeish, Fingarson and Scorey record shot on goal

• The Vikes put three of their four recorded shots on target, with Brianne McLeish, Sophie Fingarson, and Taiya Scorey each putting one on frame to force the Trinity Western goalkeeper to make the save.

Lidstone records four saves

• Kayley Lidstone recorded four saves in net for the Vikes.

WORTH NOTING

• The Spartans out-shot the Vikes 9-4, and 7-3 in shots on goal.
• The Vikes only saw two corner kick opportunities to the Spartans' 10.
• In their first appearance at U SPORTS championship since 2019, the Vikes were outscored by their opponents, 8-0.
• Victoria's season comes to a close with a 9-5-5 overall record and a Canada West runner-up finish.
