Kelowna, B.C. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team shutout the University of British Columbia Okanagan, 4-0, Sept. 27 at Nonis Sports Field to open its weekend road trip.

Michel gets his first as a Vike
- It took less than five minutes for the Vikes to get on the board. A cross from Mattheus Achadinha was diverted by the UBCO goalkeeper straight to Cole Michel's foot, who sent it over the line for his first career goal and the 1-0 Vikes lead in the fifth minute.
Heat double the Vikes' lead
- A corner kick by Javier Sagaste in the 16th minute bounced off Heat defenders and over the line, putting the Vikes ahead by a score of 2-0.
Cameron puts the Vikes up by three
- A Vikes corner in the 40th minute bounced from the head of Fin Tugwell to that of Ole Cameron. Cameron's header sent the ball to the back of the net to give the Vikes a 3-0 advantage at halftime and mark his first goal in a Vikes uniform.
Virk adds insurance goal
- In the 49th minute, Fin Tugwell launched the ball downfield to Jack Napier-Ganley in the box. Napier-Ganley sent the ball across the box and connected with an on-the-move Manchand Virk, who struck it past the goalkeeper for the 4-0 Vikes lead in the 49th minute and his first goal as a Vike.
WORTH NOTING
- All three scorers recorded the first goal of their respective Vikes careers in the win. Cole Michel is in his first year, while Ole Cameron is in his second year and Manchand Virk in his third year.
- Callum Weir recorded one save in the clean sheet.
- Weir and the Vikes defence have now recorded seven shutouts on the year.
- The Vikes move to 6-1-3 on the year with the win, while UBCO drops to 2-5-3.
