Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Chase Carter

Vikes score early and often for 3-0 win

Abbotsford, B.C. – The University of Victoria women's soccer team traveled on the road and defeated the University of Fraser Valley 3-0 on Oct. 10.

Vikes pressure paid off early
  • In the 2nd minute of the game, Ruby Nicholas crossed a corner kick into the box, and it skipped past the keeper. Adrianna Hilton crashed the net and forced it past the lone Cascades' defender on the goal line.

Vikes struck quick to start the second half
  • It was Ruby Nicholas with the setup again; she streaked down the sideline and crossed the ball into the box. Her pass found Abby McDonald at the back post, and she made no mistake. McDonald buried her 4th of the season and made it 2-0 for the Vikes in the 49th minute.

McNeely put the game out of reach
  • In the 80th minute, Scarlett McNeely made a push to break through the Cascades' defenders. Her pursuit was at first stopped by a sliding goaltender, but the rebound bounced back to McNeely, and she put home the Vikes third of the game.

Notables
  • Stefanie Mocnik recorded her first shutout win of the season, bringing her personal record to 2-1-1.
  • The Vikes improve to 5-3-3 on the season, while the Cascades fall to 3-6-2.

The Vikes continue their road trip as they travel to Langley to take on Trinity Western, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.
