Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria women's basketball team fell 76-67 to Trinity Western University, Oct. 24 at CARSA performance gym.
Vikes came out strong but faded late in the first half.
- The Vikes came out red-hot to begin their first Canada West regular season game, outscoring the Spartans 21-10 in the first quarter.
- The Vikes' hot start was majorly contributed to by shooting 47.1% from the field in the first quarter.
Spartans closed the gap in the second quarter.
- TWU closed the gap as they found their range in the second quarter. The Spartans came all the way back to lead 33-32 as the game headed for halftime.
Vikes unable to regain lead in the second half
- The Vikes battled hard in the second half, but the Spartans' hot shooting continued. The Vikes struggled shooting in the third quarter and fell to an insurmountable deficit.

- Makena Anderson led in scoring for the Vikes with her 16 points.
- Mimi Sigue came off the bench and led the Vikes with eight rebounds.
- The Vikes move to 0-1 on the new season, while the Spartans jump to 1-0.
The Vikes will be back in action as they travel to Abbotsford to take on the University of Fraser Valley, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m.
