Men's golf, Kirby and Koira win Continental Athletic Conference titles

Smithville, Mo. - The University of Victoria golf teams captured the men's and women's individual titles while the men's side finished as team champions at the 2025 Continental Athletic Conference Championships, April 28-29 at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.

Men's golf wins fourth-straight banner, women finish second
  • The Vikes men captured the program's fourth-straight Continental Athletic Conference banner, finishing with a collective +62 for the top-spot finish. The Vikes men earn an entry to the NAIA national championships with the win.
  • On the women's side, the Vikes finished second as a team at +84 over two rounds of play.
Koira wins women's title
  • Cindy Koira captured individual medallist honours on the women's side with a +8 overall finish. Koira carded an 80 in round one, and followed with the only par-or-better round of the women's field in round two with an even 72. 
  • Koira is the first Vike to win the individual conference title since Rhiannon Jones in 2019. She also earns all-tournament honours and a berth to the NAIA national championship with the win.
Kirby claims top men's spot
  • Daniel Kirby improved from his 11th place finish at the CAC championship one season ago to win the tournament at +11 overall. After an opening-round 76, Kirby shot 77 and 74 over the final two rounds to win the individual title and a nod to the all-tournament team.
  • Kirby becomes the fifth-straight Vike to become conference's individual champion on the men's side.
Lines earns CAC All-Tournament Team honours
  • Maguire Lines finished second individually on the men's side at +14 overall (75, 81, 74), earning CAC All-Tournament recognition.
Four Vikes add top 10 finishes
  • Brynne Davies and Lana Rummel posted top 10 showings on the women's side, with Davies taking sixth at +20 following two straight rounds of 82, while Rummel took 10th at +27 overall (90, 81).
  • On the men's side, Chase Basanta and Owen Croft took sixth and eighth individually, respectively. Basanta finished at +18 overall with rounds of 82, 74, 78, while Croft was +21 with 82, 77, and 78 rounds.
UP NEXT
Koira will head to the NAIA women's golf championship, May 13-16, in Ypsilanti, Mich., while the Vikes men will head to Silvis, Ill. for the NAIA men's golf championship, May 20-23.
