Kamloops, B.C. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team came back to claim a 2-1 win over Thompson Rivers University, Aug. 30 at Hillside Stadium.
TRU takes lead at the half
- The WolfPack got on the board in the closing moments of the first half, taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Tugwell strikes twice to win it for the Vikes
- Fin Tugwell evened things up in the 65th minute, meeting the setup by Ole Cameron right in front of the TRU goalkeeper and sending the ball to the back of the net to bring the score to 1-1.
- Just shy of eight minutes later, a Vikes free kick bounced around in the box, eventually deflecting to Tugwell who struck it over the line for his second goal of the night and seal the win for the Vikes, 2-1.
Notables
- Fin Tugwell's brace was the fourth-year's first multi-goal performance of his Vikes career. The goals also marked his second and third of the season, respectively.
- Callum Weir recorded three saves in net for the Vikes.
- The Vikes held the 18-7 advantage in shots taken and 7-4 edge in shots on goal over the WolPack.
- The Vikes move to 3-0-1 on the season with the win, while TRU falls to 0-4-0 with the loss.
