Victoria, B.C. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team continued their winning ways as they defeated the University of British Columbia Okanagan 3-0 at Centennial Stadium, Sep. 26.
Archie Tugwell scored to make it 1-0 for the Vikes
- In the 36th minute, Archie Tugwell received a pass from Alex Moody and blasted home a shot from outside the box for his first goal of the season.
Vikes scored two more to put the game out of reach
- Off of turnover by a Heat defender, Evan Larsen capitalized as he slid the ball across the box for Matthew Pearse to put into the net. This goal came in the 69th minute and would make it 2-0.
- The Vikes struck again as Wesley Jones, less than a minute after subbing in, buried his first goal as a Vike. Aiden Grew sent a cross over all the Heat's defenders and it found the head of Jones as he redirected the ball across the line.
Notables:
- Callum Weir recorded his second shutout of the season.
- This win extends the Vikes' winning streak over the Heat to seven straight games.
- The Vikes improve to 7-1-2 on the season, while the Heat fall to 0-7-2.
The Vikes will be back tomorrow, Sep. 27 at 7:15pm., to play Thompson Rivers University at Centennial Stadium.
