Hobbs, NM - The University of Victoria women's golf team won the NAIA Continental Conference Championship, April 27 – 28 at Rockwind Community Links GC. In addition to the team title,
Cindy Koira captured the individual crown for the second consecutive year, besting the field for a resounding eight-shot victory.
Koira grabbed a massive lead with a first-round 75 and didn't look back.
- Cindy Koira, reigning CAC Championship winner, fired a stellar 75 in her first round of tournament play, highlighted by five birdies to propel her to an early lead. Koira followed the tournament-low round with a 79 in round two, clinching the individual title with a final score of +10 over two rounds.
Antonia Ho rose above the pack for a podium finish.
- Antonia Ho started on fire as she posted one of her best rounds of the year, finishing +5 with a score of 77, placing her second with one round left to play. Ho followed up her stellar play with an 88 in round two, capping off an impressive tournament with a third-place finish.
Bowers added a top 10 finish.
- Kenzie Bowers rallied in her second round of tournament play to slide into the top 10 with a T-9 finish. Bowers carded a +10 in round two, a score that was a large contribution in the Vikes capturing the team title.
Davies and Scabar round out a stellar tournament for the Vikes.
- Brynne Davies fired rounds of 91 and 84, finishing with a tournament score of +31 and ranking 11th on the individual leaderboard.
- Ella Scabar carded a pair of 95's, finishing T-22 with a tournament score of +46.
The Vikes women's golf team will return to action for the NAIA National Championship on May 19-22 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
