Women’s rugby home opener a rematch of Canada West championship

VICTORIA - The stage is set for another season of hard-hitting, fast-paced action on the pitch as Canada West has unveiled its 2026 rugby 15s schedule.

Fresh off a Canada West title, the Vikes open the 2026-27 campaign Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. on Wallace Field against the University of British Columbia in a rematch of last season's Canada West and U SPORTS championship finals.

The Vikes will host just two home matches this season, with the second coming Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. against the University of Lethbridge.

Victoria will also host the 2026 Canada West championship weekend, with semifinals set for Oct. 22 and medal matches scheduled for Oct. 25.

The 2026 U SPORTS Rugby Championship will be held Nov. 4-8 at the University of Guelph.

2027 Rugby 7s series stops revealed

The conference has also announced its three Rugby 7s stops for the 2027 campaign, with the Vikes playing on the road. The season will feature tournaments taking place Jan. 23-24 in Edmonton, Feb. 5-6 in Langley, and Feb. 27-28 in Vancouver.

UBC enters as four-time champions of the Rugby 7s series, capturing last year's championship after going a combined 14-1 over three tournament stops. Victoria is the reigning silver medalist, while Trinity Western earned its second straight bronze medal.
