Your investment in student-athletes
Donor support meaningfully expanded the student-athlete experience this season. Through Vikes Giving Day, the team travelled to Quebec for preseason competition, facing McGill, Laval, and Memorial—rare national-level matchups that sharpened performance and broadened competitive perspective.
Impact beyond the pitch
Donors also enabled participation in the Mia Gunter Special Olympics event in Edmonton, raising $40,000 in support of Special Olympics women’s soccer. This powerful experience reinforced values of inclusion, leadership, and community engagement while allowing athletes to represent UVic with integrity.
From national-level competition to meaningful community involvement, donor investment continues to elevate women’s soccer—helping student-athletes grow as competitors, leaders, and individuals.
From the athletes
“Donor support has provided me with the opportunity to travel, compete at a high level and focus on my growth and development as both an athlete and a student. Because of this support I have been able to take part in meaningful events such as the Mia Gunter special Olympics event in Edmonton and travel across the country making memories that will stay with me well beyond my university career as a Vike.”
- Brianne McLeish
“The impact that donor support has had on my experience as a Vike can’t be understated. It has alleviated the stress of paying my way through school as a busy student athlete, helped me make lifelong memories with my team in places we otherwise would never have been able to visit together (like Halifax, Florida, and Montreal), and allowed me an opportunity to now chase dreams of playing at a high level after university. I am so grateful for the impact that donor investment has had on the women’s soccer program and on my time as a Vike and beyond.”
