Josh Mullen

Josh Mullen enters his ninth year as the lead assistant coach for the Vikes men's basketball program in 2023-24.
 
In addition to his role with the Men's Basketball team, Mullen has served as head coach and program director for the Vikes Nation club program that competes on the AAU circuit in the Pacific Northwest. Mullen coached Vikes Nation teams that feature current UVic players and Canada West All-Stars Ethan Boag and Diego Maffia.

Mullen’s 2018 U17 team, a group he led for three consecutive seasons, took part in five of the top club tournaments in Western Canada, winning four golds and one silver in those competitions. 

 
Previously, Mullen worked as a full time P.E. and Social Studies Teacher at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver in addition to his role as the head coach of the senior boys basketball Team. In the 2014-2015 season, Mullen helped lead the Mulgrave boys back to the provincial championships after a nine-year absence from the tournament.

Prior to working at Mulgrave, Mullen served as an assistant coach with Kitsilano’s senior boys team.

Mullen earned a Bachelor of Physical Education and Social Studies and Master of Coaching Studies, both from the University of Victoria.


Vancouver Island is home to Mullen as he grew up in Parksville, B.C. Mullen and his wife, Tawnya, reside in Victoria with their daughters, Amelia and Scarlett.
