Phil Ohl enters his second year as a full assistant coach with the University of Victoria Vikes men's basketball team.

Ohl, who has coached at every level of basketball, also served as the head coach of the Camosun College Chargers men's basketball team for three years (1993-94 - 1996-97).

A former Vikes player himself (1981-85), Ohl won four national championships at UVic. In 1985, Ohl was named as a CIAU All-Canadian, the CIS Tournament Most Valuable Player, and B.C. Basketball player of the year.

Ohl was a member of the Canadian national team program for seven years, including five years on the A-team. He has competed in the World Championships, World University Games and the 1992 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, where Canada played against Michael Jordan's Dream Team.

Ohl resides in Victoria with his wife Ruthild and son Dominic. He continues to work as coordinator of the International Student Program in Saanich.  He also continues to run his corporate training business, The Leader's Edge. Ohl and wife Ruthild met while he played professionally in Germany. In 1989, they both relocated to Victoria.
