Nick Toulmin

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Nick Toulmin recently relocated to Vancouver Island and is entering his second year back home at Elk Lake to assist with the coaching duties of the Vikes novice men's program working under Samantha Heron and Aalbert Van Schothorst.

Toulmin has strong ties to UVic rowing, as he began his rowing career as a novice in 1979 and progressed through both the Varsity and National Team programs culminating in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, at which point he retired from the sport.

Toulmin picked up rowing again in 2008 in the Toronto area, where he joined the Don Rowing Club of Mississauga (DRC) to compete at the Masters level. Until his move west in 2019, Toulmin served on the DRC's Board of Directors and spent two separate terms as President.

Toulmin has a passion for the sport of rowing that began on his first day in the UVic novice program. It is this same passion that he hopes to share with the athletes who are being introduced to rowing for the first time and who will, hopefully, continue on to develop and enjoy what can become a fantastic journey.
