A night removed from having their debut at the brand-new Langley Events Centre spoiled, the no. 10 Spartans never trailed and snapped the Vikes three-game win streak. Doerksen, the 2008-09 CIS Player of the Year, shot 12-21 and made 11-15 free-throws to come within three points of matching his career scoring high.

For the second straight night the Vikes were led in scoring by third year guard #Ryan MacKinnon#, who totaled 13 points on 3-8 shooting. #Zac Andrus# came off the bench to net 12 and #Jeff Cullen# scored 10. The Vikes shot 38 percent and were out-rebounded by a 52-31 margin.

The Vikes never led in the contest, but the game was close through three quarters. It wasn't until the final frame that the Spartans pulled ahead, scoring the first three baskets of the quarter to build a double-digit lead. Trinity Western's largest lead of the game was 18, coming with two minutes remaining.

The loss is the first for the Vikes since dropping their season opener to Simon Fraser, and drops their record to 3-2 in league play. Trinity Western, meanwhile, moves to 3-2.

The Vikes have just two more games, both on the road, before breaking for exams. Next weekend the Vikes will battle Prairie foes Manitoba Bisons and Winnipeg Wesmen.
