WINNIPEG – The UVic Vikes men's basketball team was hot out of the gates on Saturday evening netting 28 points in the opening frame en route to a 72-47 win over the Winnipeg Wesmen.

Fourth year guard #Jeff Cullen# led the surge scoring seven in the opening quarter before posting a game-high 17 points. The Vikes held the home side to just eight points in the second frame and carried a 43-20 lead into half time after shooting 44.4% from the field.
By the final whistle Comox native #Ryan MacKinnon# had netted 13 points and #Mike Berg# posted a game-high nine rebounds.
The 0-9 Wesmen struggled from the field under the Vikes' pressure shooting 31.6% and went 1-12 from beyond the arc.
The road win sees the Vikes carry a 4-3 record into the holidays before their season resumes on January 8th against the Brandon Bobcats. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at McKinnon Gym.
