Crucial Points at stake this weekend - VIDEO PREVIEW

With the Canada West schedule halfway completed, the UVic Vikes men's soccer team will need a strong final push if they hope to host the Final Four. Crucial points are at stake this weekend with the no. 3 Alberta Golden Bears and Saskatchewan Huskies in town.

GAME INFORMATION
Sat. Oct. 3 vs. Alberta Golden Bears (Centennial Stadium) - 2:15 p.m.
Sun. Oct. 4 vs. Saskatchewan Huskies (Centennial Stadium) - 2:15 p.m.

SCOUTING THE VICTORIA VIKES
Canada West leading scorer #Cole McFarlane# was held to just one goal last weekend as the Vikes dropped their first losses of the season. The Vikes have been unlucky at the back but 'keeper #Dan Kilpatrick# still posts an impressive .833 saves percentage and has the Vikes at a 3-2-1 record.

SCOUTING THE ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS
Sitting four points clear of the Vikes in the Canada West standings the Alberta Golden Bears boast the strongest defence in the league conceding just two goals in six matches. Striker Cameron Schmidt leads the team in scoring as they arrive in Victoria with a 4-0-2 record.

HEAD TO HEAD
An own goal by Alberta on September 20th saw the Vikes leave Edmonton with a 1-1 decision. The teams have since swapped places in the conference standings and this weekend's battle will have massive implications on the season's final stages.

SCOUTING THE SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES
Despite boasting the second strongest offence in the Canada West, the Huskies have run into some hard luck dropping two matches by a single goal. Their 2-1 upset over the UBC Thunderbirds in week one showed the 2009 Keg Spring Cup winners were a threat but the side has only won once in their previous four outings.

HEAD TO HEAD
Cole McFarlane's two goals combined with a lethal shot by #Jordie Oberg# lifted the Vikes to a 3-2 victory over Saskatchewan back in week two of the '09 season. The Vikes have not lost to the Huskies since September 30, 2006 when Saskatchewan pulled off a 1-0 road win at Centennial Stadium.
