Carleton gets better of Vikes once again

OTTAWA - In a rematch of the 2006 CIS title game, the same outcome was reached Sunday with the Carleton Ravens scoring an 82-67 victory over the UVic Vikes men's basketball team.

The six-time CIS champion Ravens won the House Laughton tournament for a 10th straight year on the strength of Tyson Hinz's 30-point performance. Carleton pulled ahead in the final frame, after the Vikes cut their deficit to five at the end of the third quarter.

#Marco Dolcetti# hit four three-pointers and led the Vikes in scoring with 20 points. Dolcetti, a fifth year guard from Vernon, was named tournament all-star, along with teammate #Ryan MacKinnon#. MacKinnon and #Jeff Cullen# each scored 13 in Sunday's final.

The Vikes went 1-2 at the House Laughton tournament, suffering an opener loss to Windsor (74-64) and rebounding with a comfortable victory over McGill (91-64).

The Vikes began Canada West conference play next weekend when McKinnon Gym hosts the Calgary Dinos, October 22-23.
