Undefeated Pandas blank Vikes

EDMONTON – The no. 1 Alberta Pandas kept their undefeated record in tact on Sunday, blanking the UVic Vikes women's soccer team 5-0.

Alberta's conference-leading defence held the Vikes scoreless for the fourth time this season, as goalkeeper Kelti Biggs posted her league-leading eighth shutout. During their 2010 campaign, the Pandas have conceded just three goals in ten outings.

Alberta striker Elise Emmott scored twice to lead the Pandas' offensive output, with goals also coming courtesy of Keshia Wallin, Christina Le and Heather Lund.

With the win, Alberta (9-0-1) remains on top of the Canada West standings with and 8-point lead ahead of UBC Thunderbirds. The loss drops the Vikes to 2-5-3, four points shy of a postseason berth.

The Vikes return to Centennial Stadium next weekend to host the Regina Cougars and Manitoba Bisons. Kickoffs for Saturday, October 23rd and Sunday, October 24th are scheduled for 12:00pm.
