VICTORIA - The UVic Vikes men's basketball team could not close out the weekend sweep of the Calgary Dinos, as a seven-point fourth quarter lead slipped away and the visitors prevailed 83-74.

Tyler Fidler spearheaded the Calgary comeback by scoring 10 of his game-high 20 points in the final frame. The 6-foot-9 guard overturned a one-time 17-point deficit, giving the Dinos their first lead since the opening minutes.
Fidler, who also hauled in 13 'boards, was one of four Dinos scorers in double figures. Last night's leading scorer, Andrew McGuinness netted 15, rookie Philip Labongo came off the bench to score 12, and Dustin Reding posted 11.

Ryan MacKinnon# helped stake the Vikes to an early lead, scoring UVic's first six points and finishing with 16. Midway through the second frame the lead grew as large as 17, and the Vikes entered the half with a 43-32 advantage.

Wendell Thomas# was the leading rebounder with eight, but the Vikes faced a 42-29 deficit on the glass.
On Friday night the Vikes won 68-58, putting them at 1-1 on the young season.
The Vikes will now travel to the prairies to face the defending CIS champion Saskatchewan Huskies. UVic defeated the Huskies 82-54 in their regular season matchup a year ago.
