VANCOUVER - The UBC T-Birds locked up their eighth straight Canada West championship after a 3-2 victory over the UVic Vikes women's field hockey team on Saturday.
UBC's standout rookie Natalie Sourisseau scored twice for the T-Birds, including the game-winner. UBC goals came in the 9th, 38th and 55th minutes.
Despite the loss, the second place Vikes still qualified for the CIS championship because of Calgary's earlier 3-1 loss to Alberta. The nationals appearance will be UVic's 28th and fifth consecutive. The Vikes have won 11 CIS titles.
