WSOC PREVIEW: Vikes vs Lethbridge/Calgary

VICTORIA – Sitting three spots shy of a postseason appearance, the UVic Vikes women's soccer team needs two wins and some help to punch their tickets to the postseason.

GAME INFORMATION
Sat. Oct. 30 vs. Lethbridge Pronghorns (Centennial Stadium) – 12:00pm
Sun. Oct. 31 vs. Calgary Dinos (Centennial Stadium) – 12:00pm

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Both the Vikes and Dinos need wins this weekend to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth, potentially setting up a crucial season finale when the two sides square off on Sunday. With just one win this season, the Pronghorns are currently sitting at the bottom of the table, outside of the playoff picture.

SCOUTING THE VIKES

The Vikes performed under pressure last weekend, posting two wins to keep their playoff hopes alive. Heading into the final series with a 4-5-3 record, the team needs at least two victories and some help. The Vikes could still catch the Saskatchewan Huskies who currently occupy the fourth and final playoff berth. Fortunately for the Vikes, the Huskies take on the UBC Thunderbirds and Trinity Western Spartans this weekend.

The Vikes will need another strong showing by rookie #Jaclyn Sawicki# who scored twice in last weekend's series sweep of Manitoba and Regina. The prized recruit has paid dividends this season, currently topping the Vikes scoring shots with four goals.

SCOUTING THE PRONGHORNS

Sitting at 1-10-1, Lethbridge have accumulated just four points this season. With Andrea Nippard posting three goals and two assists, however, the Pronghorns are still a dangerous side capable of derailing the Vikes' pursuit of the postseason.

SCOUTING THE DINOS
At 5-4-3, Calgary has gone undefeated in their last six games. Tessa Miller has led the charge offensively, notching six goals and six assists. Goals have also come courtesy of Morena Ianniello and Sarah Benson who have three apiece.
