CALGARY - The UVic Vikes women's field hockey team surrendered a late second half goal and settled for a 1-1 draw versus the Calgary Dinos.
After suffering a shutout on Saturday for their first loss of the campaign, the Vikes attacked aggressively from the onset. Unfortunately, their efforts were only rewarded with a single score as #
Danielle Hennig# found the back of the net in the 17th minute.
Calgary countered in the second and pulled even in the 52nd minute. Penny Cuthbert scored on a rebound, while Dinos 'keeper Stephanie Petrowitch denied any further UVic scoring chances.
The Vikes best scoring chances came in the game's waning minutes, but failed to produce the go-ahead goal on three consecutive short corner chances.
The Vikes are now 3-1-2 and will resume their road swing next weekend against the Alberta Pandas. Calgary will test their four-game unbeaten streak against the UBC T-Birds.
