VICTORIA - The UVic Vikes men's basketball team completed the weekend sweep for the first time this season, dropping the Regina Cougars 85-55 on Saturday night.

The Vikes led wire to wire for their third straight victory, also improving to 6-4 in league games. UVic won the series opener on Friday night 97-69.
Ryan MacKinnon played a leading role in the win with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting. Mike Berg posted a season high with 18 points, and
Pierce Anderson came off the bench to score 12. Anderson and MacKinnon both had a team-high six rebounds, helping UVic to a 41-30 advantage on the 'boards.
The Vikes shot 50 percent from the field, and took control of the game early in the second quarter with an 11-0 run.
Sterling Nostedt led Regina scorers with 17 points, making five three-pointers. Paul Gareau added 12 points and the Cougars shot 34.5 percent from the field.
The Vikes will look to extend their win streak next weekend with a two-game road series at Alberta. The 4-4 Cougars will look to halt their four-game skid when they return home to host Calgary.
