A 25-8 run in the second half lifted the Carleton Ravens over the UVic Vikes men's basketball team, 80-65, at the House-Laughton Tournament in Ottawa on Saturday night.

The Vikes - 77-56 winners on Friday night over the Guelph Gryphons - play the Bishop's Gaiters in their third and final game of the tournament on Sunday (9 a.m. PDT). Carleton will play Guelph later on Sunday.

Ryan MacKinnon# (Comox, B.C.) responded after an off-night Friday to lead UVIc with 19 points, adding two steals and two assists. #
Michael Berg# (Burnaby, B.C.) nearly posted a double-double with 10 points and nine boards, while #
Zac Andrus# (Vachon Island, Wa.) continued his strong play with 11 points and a steal along with a pair of helpers.
The Ravens, winner of seven of the past nine Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national titles, showed their depth in the win and had three scorers in double-digits including
Phil Scrubb who led Carleton with a game-high 27 points along with two steals.
Elliot Thompson added 22 points and four steals while
Tyson Hinz netted 11 points. The win extends Carleton's non-conference pre-season record to 10-4, including a perfect 5-0 showing against Canadian schools (5-4 against NCAA competition).
The Ravens led 24-21 after the first quarter in see-saw opening stanza, and held a 39-35 lead at the half.
The Vikes tied the game at 46 with about three minutes remaining in the third quarter. But a
Dan Penner three-pointer put Carleton up by five points and sparked an 8-0 run to end the third quarter, giving the host Ravens a 10-point lead, 59-49, entering the fourth.
Fans get their first look at the Vikes in just under a week when UVic hosts Westminster College Oct. 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. at McKinnon Gymnasium.
